The Fairbanks Rollergirls took on the Yukon Roller Girls and the Juneau Rollergirls in a season finale double-header on Saturday, May 19th at the Carlson Center.
Starting off the night, the Gold Diggers took on Yukon. After several back and forth close jams, Yukon was able to pull ahead 47-86 at the half. The Gold Diggers kept the pressure on Yukon in the second half, and managed to close the gap, but in the end Yukon was able to win out 150 to 123.
For the second bout of the night, the Raven Rebels took on the Juneau Rollergirls. Keeping the score within a few points almost the entire bout, they came to halftime with the Rebels leading Juneau just 75 to 74. Keeping the score difference razor-thin throughout the second half, the score was tied up 121 to 121 with just 3 minutes left in the bout. In the last two jams, the Rebels were able to pull ahead, winning the bout 136 to 121.
Prior to the main event, the Fairbanks Junior Derby, Cold'n Heart, bouted with the Bruise Berries taking on the Fool's Gold. Several Yukon Junior Derby girls travelled up and joined in the fun, with Fool's Gold skating away the victors 239 to 150.
